May was a great month for the MS cause!!!  Some of you may know it was "MS Awareness Month" and the kickoff to many Walk MS events around the United States hosted by the National MS Society.  Our Team Jill walked again in Waukesha, WI and met and exceeded its fundraising goal by raising $2,355!  I know Team Jill would not have reached its fundraising goal without your help and support, so I thank each and every one of you that donated this year!

As I have been in Australia I couldn’t participate with Team Jill as usual this year but still wanted to do my part in fundraising.  A good friend in Australia, Carlin Drew, suggested we put together an event and it didn’t take long for that suggestion to become a reality!  With MS being a major worldwide issue we chose to donate all funds raised toward MS Australia to support the research effort there.  Carlin and I pulled together all our resources in just 5 short weeks for an 80s-themed trivia night.  Thanks to generous donors in Down Under we ended up raising $4,700 in just one night!

It is truly amazing the kind of support anyone can obtain when it is for a worthy cause.  I suggest you try your hand at putting a fun event together as well.  It is one of the easiest and most fun ways to raise desperately needed funds and the lessons you learn along the way are invaluable to almost every aspect of life (not to mention the inspirational aspect of it when you see how much others are willing to give to support your effort!).
 
Along with funds donated and matched via the National MS Society website, the Team Jill community donated $11,055 toward the MS cause just this last month!!!  How AMAZING!  We are seriously a cool group of MS fundraisers if you ask me!  Much more can and will be accomplished with your assistance!

MS Run the US has recently been nominated for the philanthropic CLASSY Awards sponsored by Guidestar.org and we need YOUR help!!!   As similarly with our US Bank "Make It Happen" contest in October of 2010, I ask that you support our worthy nonprofit organization again in online voting via Facebook.  The organizations that qualify for the final rounds not only receive national recognition but also may be eligible for cash and other prizes for their organization.  We must receive 100 "Likes" on the Facebook page:http://www.stayclassy.org/stories/daughter-runs-3288-miles-across-america-for-moms-multiple-sclerosis  in order to move onto the next round of voting.
